Description

Hi Friends I am wondering if I am boring you with all the Swaziland images, but here is yet another one!!! LOL... This was taken at one of many craft markets in Swaziland where the local folk sell their artwork to tourists. The work they do is absolutely incredible. They are so talented. In this image you can see typical African beadwork, wood carved animals, soap stone artifacts, paintings, batik, weaved baskets, tablecloths and the list goes on and on... What caught me most was the woman in the foreground of the image. I couldn't read the expression on her face or her body language and still cannot decide if it is boredom or hopelessness... I would like to think that she was just bored! I must also add that it was approximately 34 degrees Celsius at the time and very humid.... Thank you for popping in and for your very valued and appreciated comments and favs on my previous upload. Have a wonderful weekend all... Hugs, Carin xx

Beautiful image Carin. Are the items they sell cheap, mass-produced ware or hand-made stuff that is worth buying? It looks marvelously colorful!

What a great capture of this craft market!!! The people are wonderful to talk to and yes its easy to spend the last of your cash in these stalls. As PJ said the products are both hand and well made. The prices are very reasonable however unless you are living here the cost of shipping this ware is extremely expensive...especially to North America!!

They're not hopeless; I think they're just realistic about their situation and manage with it. Great capture of this store and situation. Regards, Karsten

I agree with Babuci, the one in front is lost with no hope and the one in back is just bored to tears. I must say for a market it is very quite, it looks like you are the only customer in there. I expect more hustle and bustle at a colourful market like this. An excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!

Very beautiful and colourful picture! It reminds me of the shops I visited in foreign ports when I was in the Navy! There was always something to draw your interest.

I'm very impressed with the processing on this, am guessing it's hdr or at least tonemapped, and it's given the colours a real vibrance as well as making it kind of difficult at first to distinguish the depth of the scene/relation of figures in the space, which I think is really cool!-makes it kind of like a 'magic eye' image .. a bit maybe... ;) very nice indeed!
