Description

Firedrake shuffled his wings and his legs,so he could get more comfortable on the cave floor. As he shuffled, his green scales chimed like bells as they rubbed against eachother. He, Whitestorm,Nightsimmer, and Skydragi were waiting for the egg to hatch. King Gwoknar, the dragons king, seeked knowledge from the dragon God, Beginshu, and in return, Beginshu had given Gwoknar the knowledge that the black egg would hatch today. Firedrake thought, If I wouldn't become a toothclaw by witnessing a dragon's birth, then I wouldn't even be here. Skydragi, the skyblue dragon next to Firedrake, she was waitig for the egg to hatch for the same reason as Firedrake-to become a toothclaw. He was tired of being a dragon-to-be. Nightsimmer, the dark blue dragon, she was a toothclaw, and all toothclaws were supposed to wait for the egg to hatch. Whitestorm, the white dragon, he was also a toothclaw. All of the other toothclaws were probably hunting, or resting from the dawn patrol. All male dragon-to-bes had 'drake' for the last part of their names, and all female dragon-to-bes had 'dragi' for the last part of their names. Firedrake thought, Poor Skydragi! She is one of the few dragon-to-bes that aren't resting. And she was in the dawn patrol, too. Firedrake was named Firedrake because, no matter where he was, his green scales had an orangeish glow to them, like fire. Skydragi, obviously, was named Skydragi, because she is skyblue. Nightsimmer, she was named Nightsimmer because her dark blue scales looked like night, a few minutes before sunrise. Whitestorm, got his name, because he is white, but his scales were darkish white, but mainly he got his name, because when he was a dragon-to-be, a dragon kit, Rainkit, was blown out of the cave by a white storm. And Whitestorm, Whitedrake at that time, disobeyed Gwoknar's orders, and flew out of the cave into the storm to rescue Rainkit. Rainkit was saved, and he is now Raindrake. Nightsimmer curled her tail upward, and rested her head on it. She closed her eyes a little. Firedrake spread his forelegs apart more. Whitestorm flayed his wings out on the cave floor. Skydragi raised one of her hands. She roared, "When will the egg hatch? Caveshadow must be proud of her egg, and Beginshu had said it should hatch today!" As Skydragi said that, the black egg started to crack. As the dragon kit pushed it's way out of the egg, dragon scales chimed, the waterfall roared, the waterfall water hitting the pond splashed, and the waterfall's sprays whooshed as they hit the cave floor. The black baby dragon pushed it's way out of the egg. Caveshadow came gliding towards her kit. Caveshadow was very dark brown, like a shadow in a cave. Her kit, looked at her-for all dragons were born with their eyes open. Caveshadow licked the eggshells off her kit. By now, more dragons were emerging. King Gwoknar flew down from above. He landed next to the black dragon kit, and it's mother, who was now in the nest. Gwoknar instructed, "Caveshadow, by the power of the dragon God, I give you the power to name your kit. Is your kit a fela or a tom?" Caveshadow looked up at Gwoknar. "My kit is a fela, and I shall name her Emberkit." Gwoknar announced,"I accept that name. Firedrake, Skydragi, come forward." Firedrake and Skydragi stepped forward. Gwoknar studdied them both. "Do you both agree to the rules of the dragon-code, and do you accept to protect your cave-mates, even at the cost of your lives?" Firedrake and Skydragi answered, "I do." Gwoknar announced,"Then by the powers of Beginshu, I give you your toothclaw names. Firedrake, from this point on you will be known as Firescale. And, Skydragi, from this point on, you will be known as Skywing. Beginshu honores your bravery and courage, and we all welcome you as a toothclaw in this Dragontribe." All of the dragons chanted the new names. "Firescale! Skywing! Firescale! Skywing!" Emberkit blinked her flame-colored eyes. That must be why Caveshadow named her kit Emberkit. Her eyes were like embers.

Thanks! And I'm glad to hear that you like my story. Because, I'm writing a book, that yes, I'll eventually try to get published. The series will be called Charmers. And book one, as far as I know, will be called Charmers in Kingdoms Beyond. My initials on the book will be OLP, but my first and last name will be on the book. I just didn't want to post my first and last name here, for basically a good fraction of the world to see. lol. =3 Cheers! ~~~~ML
