Description
Zoom in please [^___^]
I decided to model something different [^__^]
First I will mention "a Crystal radio needs no batteries or no kind of power connected to it".I won't go into to many details as to make this boring [^____^]
*****************************************
When I was a kid I made a real Crystal radio similar to this, (Others made these too) The base was a piece of wood, The copper coil was wound around an empty Quaker Oats oatmeal box, and a few electronic parts were soldered or twisted together, The detector was usually a galena crystal with a catwisker ( small piece of wire) but they are not easy to find so a Crystal radio like this can still be made by using a 1n34a diode instead of the galena mineral.
I modeled this 3D radio in Amapi 6.1 and rendered in Bryce 5.5... I tried to make it look as real as possible [^___^]
Cheers, Roger

Awesome Modeling! I made one of these when I was a kid for my science project. I got a "C" because all we could hear was static lol.

Very great work!!!

Too cool! These things actually work? That is amazing. Very unusual Bryce render for sure.
decie
nice idea if you didnt have a radio and stuck int the middle of now where, with wire an oat box wood and so on. BTW you made a great 3D model here and nicely rendered
Prematos
Cool, not only the great work you did...
tallpindo
I made one when the radio station first came on the air in our tiny town. Winding the coil was the big job. Mine had a variable blade capacitor to tune it. I see yours uses taps on the coil. This looks like the real thing. tallpindo

And you did a great job modeling this! Well done

Super cool idea and model Roger, great one

Like yeohann and tallpindo, I also built crystal radios. Ones that used taps to tune in the stations, like this one and others that used a variable capacitor for the tuning. Hearing the announcers voice in your headphones, from a radio you built yourself, was a thrill. Outstanding job of modeling and your render was so real looking that I thought it was a photo! Artist, modeler, song writer, inventor (with patent), all around good guy and friend. Ya Dun Gud!!!

It's so realistic that it looks like a photo! Other comments show that I'm not the only one that thinks so! Great work!

This is great; reminds me of a science project my son had in the 6th grade. We got this book full of ideas and one them was how to make a light bulb work with a lemon!! It never did work, but it was great fun; and now my son knows how to some pretty off the wall stuff!!
