Description

First of all, my apologies to many of you. There are a lot of heavy duty things happening in my life with two of my grandchildren. Mom is doing much better, but I am still spending a lot of time with her doing stuff. Also this time of year is hard for me to get through. I dread the holidays. There are too many bad memories associated with this time of year. At any rate, I haven't posted here in a while, and probably won't much any more. I joined artwanted and am going to try to sell some of my art. That is a positive thing I need right now. So you all take care, and I will check in from time to time. Its just something I have to get past, this holiday thing. That being said, this image is my response to what I saw: I was watching the Public Broadcasting Station, PBS, last week and watched a two hour special titled 'The Rape of Europa'. It was about the art that was stolen from private residences and also from Art museums, by the Nazi's during World War II. From history, I had known of this happening, but never realized the degree of damage, and loss that occured. Many people, ordinary soldiers and residents of cities helped preserve and hide what art could be saved. Many remain nameless. Below is a link to a site you might find interesting to check out. There is also a book, 'The Rape of Europa', by Lynn Nicholas, (which I have), that is simply amazing and so touching. There are still masterpieces that have never been recovered. I hope you enjoy this, and also that you will check out the link. Art really is the gift that keeps on giving. Sometimes centuries later. http://www.rescuingdavinci.com/HelpSolve/list_mfaa.aspx Be happy in your art.

I'm sorry I came to your gallery at a time when you were leaving it for a while. I wish you the best in your journey & am sorry for the struggles you had to go through. I must say, this piece is breathtaking, it has the feel of pressed flowers pasted into a mix of carved stone, oils and almost a touch of fractals. It's quite beautiful. The sinewy strands that flow throughout are quite touching, in part because they emerge out of such a solid background; and the emergence of the bas-relief plant-forms is gorgeous, as are your energy veins radiating out of them. This is genuine mixed-media, it couldn't be anything else; it's very creative and wholly natural, and I'll be back in your gallery again. I'm faving it, but can't until my favs work again (in a day or so). If you get to your comments again, know you gave me real inspiration. This is gorgeous. All the best to you...

Agree with Juliette!....a joy forever. I'm so sorry that you're currently dealing with issues, and find yourself struggling, Lea. I do hope we'll find you and your lovelies back here soon, gracing these pages. I am far too quiet these days, I know..but am always peeking in. Be well, and find your peace somehow. Warmest thoughts...Nancy~*
