They can fly, but they cannot escape the pot, Tom! ... ;o) I used to watch the honking geese V trails cross the sky in the late evening, but I haven't seen them for a couple of years now. There's a lot more magpies and sparrows around this year, but many fewer seabirds, around the British Isles. Warm regards, from a cool, shopping-mad Glasgow, John.
