BIO
For around 20 years I was a professional wedding and portrait photographer winning a couple of Kodak awards but turned to landscapes about a year ago in 2005.In my wedding days I shot on a Bronica 6 x 6 format but my camera now is a Nikon D100 and I feel that digital and Photoshop opened a whole mew world to us guy's and gals. I am based in the UK moving from the south to lancashire at the end of 2005.
So its now 2009..long time since I updated my bio.
Now shoot on a Nikon D200 and process my work through Photoshop CS3.
Been to a lot of places since moving north.Three times to Scotland..going again in September 2009.
Had a week in Snowdonia..brilliant place....cant say the same for the weather we had.Ventured down to Devon...been for a week in Northumbria..had a glorious week on the North Yorkshire coast.Walked miles around the lake district in Cumbria.
Been to west Yorkshire no end of times and that's just the places I can recall.
Tried and tried to improve my photography which if any one looks thru my gallery back to the early days may agree that it has come a long way.
So many places still to see in the UK.We must have some of the loveliest places on earth to photograph here..there will never be enough time.Â

Superb capture, my friend. I thought that it was a render, when it opened up, especially when I couldn't see Julia Bradbury... ;o) Are you sure that this is the Lake District, it appears dry to me?? Great texture of the frosty pasture, and the dry stane dyke, and that honey warm background of Helvellyn. Thanks for posting this one. Warm regards, from a damp, overcast Glasgow, now that all the black ice has melted or been crushed by the hordes descending for the pre-Christmas sales, John.

Gorgeous lighting and colours. It looks like a pretty chilly day there. Super shot!

in addition to enjoying your usual stunning composition, i get to learn something. it never occurred to me to combine exposures. i just do 3d stuff (my understanding of lighting and composition immediately vacate my head when i get behind a camera), but the concept of tailoring light amounts for different parts of the scene could be helpful.
