Description
For Dave (magnus073). This is my first attempt at a light Goddess, I usually work on the dark side of the circle. So it seems appropriate to dedicate her to a man who always brings a touch of lightness and a deep sense of goodwill to the world that we all inhabit.

Hsi Wang Mu, the "Queen Mother of the West," was the highest female goddess in the pantheon of the Taoist religion. As the ultimate embodiment of yin, Hsi Wang Mu was originally a creator figure. The first mention of the Queen Mother dates back to oracle bone inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty (1766-1122 B.C.).
Hsi Wang Mu had special significance for women who existed outside the traditional Chinese family-based roles of "the dutiful daughter, obedient wife, and self-sacrificing mother". The Queen Mother provided two models for women outside traditional roles: 1) women performers, musicians, and singers could imitate the model of her celestial attendants, the musically talented and sensual Jade Maidens; and 2) Taoist novices, nuns, and Refined Masters (i.e., Mistresses) could imitate Hsi Wang Mu herself.
The Queen Mother was viewed as a powerful, independent deity representing the ultimate yin controlling immortality and the afterlife.
The equality of the female and the male principles in Chinese religion is best exemplified by the complementary relationship between yin, female energy, and yang, male energy. However, Western scholarly approaches to Chinese religion have imposed a patriarchal system onto Chinese religion; the power of female deities has been subordinated to that of their male counterparts. Recent scholarship has attempted to recover accounts of the development, worship, power, and influence of Chinese goddesses, with an emphasis on women's relationships with their goddesses.
Hsi Wang Mu grew a special orchard of peach trees. Whoever ate these peaches attained immortality - the trees took 3000 years to bear fruit and 3000 years for the fruit to ripen. When they ripened Hsi Wang Mu would hold a great feast and all the immortals, i.e. the Gods, were invited to partake and thus retain their immortality.
No less than six Chinese emperors visited her court seeking to taste this special fruit. In all cases Hsi Wang Mu was willing to let them have the fruit if they were willing to give up their earthly possessions. All the emperors failed the test and all died as mortals. One emperor gleefully managed to talk Hsi Wang Mu into giving him one the seeds but of course he could not wait the 6000 years for it to bear ripe fruit and he perished along with the rest.
Hsi Wang Mu was traditionally depicted as a beautiful young maiden with wings, standing in the mountains with her hair wild denoting her status as a sorceress. I could not do a peach tree but I framed her in peach colors and I gave her a magical jade staff.

I love the way the character leans out of the frame slightly and the unusual and carefully worked details.The expression and your morphing is very good and I think all told it has to be favourite (Oh and did I say, that informative narrative made it all the more special).
