Today is my youngest son's 21st birthday. Happy birthday Ray!!! (RayDekker) Wishing you the best and brightest future full of health, wealth and happiness. I love you! Here in South Africa turning 21 it is HUGE! The tradition is to hand the person a key (usually in gold) which simbolizes the unlocking of adult life. Well, the last people that were here for the party left a short while ago, everything is cleaned up and I am exhausted... what a wonderful shot and thanks for your very intersting information going with it... so nice to hear, you have such a fine tradition still living... over here in Switzerland 18 is the great day, where you are considered adult by the law...but alas as far as I know there is no special tradition going with it any more...sad but true

It has been a great day here with Ray's birthday and all!!! And yes over the past couple of decades the 21st has lost alot of it prominence with the age of majority being dropped to 18 in Alberta and 19 in the other western Canadian provinces. Great capture!!! Love the photo...love the photographer!!

I think it depends on the legal drinking age. In Washington State, it's 21, so that's a big deal here. I didn't know Ray was yours! Learn something new every day. And imagine my surprise when I discovered we weren't "friends!" LOL! I guess it's official now - we can like each other. :) Happy Birthday, Ray!

Congrats to Ray, Oh yes Carin it is very big here in the UK too, mind you not so much these days, but mine was a blast, and I got keys and champagne flutes with carvings into the glass for a 21st.....AHHHHH! I remember this stunning image :)
