Soul mates You’ve heard the term, I’m sure, I certainly have. But I’ve got a few questions about this soul mate stuff. Who decides? Is there an infinite number of mates to choose from? Or do you only get one? Or is it, you only get one per lifetime, assuming that you get more than one lifetime. And how do you know, when Mister (or Ms) mate comes along? Does something like the K-mart blue light special start flashing on and off, bells clang, arrows point out of the sky? A voice from above (in a very god like, or at least Don Pardo like manner) says “This is it, here’s your mate for eternity!” Now I’ve had it declared to me more than once, that someone is this mate of mine. But how did they know? For sure, I mean? Did they get an engraved announcement? Saying “this is the one”. Or was it a sort of self-appointing kind of thingy? Is there some soul mate maker somewhere? And how does he (or she) decide? Are personalities studied, and culled? Mulled over and sorted? Or is it some sort of mystic ennie meenie miny moe thing going on? Perhaps like; matey, waitie, first they should datie to know if the goal, is really the soul. Do both parties have to agree on it? Is it like that fate deal, where you have no say? It just is what it is. And do you think the soul mate matcher -upper ever makes mistakes? I mean, wouldn’t it be the pits to get mated up with someone you really didn’t like? Could you mate swap? Auction them off to the highest bidder. Or heaven forbid, have to bribe someone to take them off you hands. You know, there sure are a lot of people in this world. Do you think there is only one entity making these soul mate selections? Maybe it’s a group. Soul Mates-R-us. Ohhhh, wonder if they’re unionized. Do they have to wear babushkas? Is that standard uniform issue? How does this whole thing work? I’ve never gotten a lace edged, pink announcement stating my soul mate is coming, will be here on such and such a date… I’ve never declared to anyone “You’re my soul mate” It always seemed rather pretentious To assume I was in the know. But I have this guy and, well, he sure does make my heart smile. Do you think, perhaps, this could be the one? YZ
