Description

Okay, so maybe I have a bit of OCD. This last week and weekend I've been working to complete my fleet drawings as background for my novel. Though it plays no part in the book, I realized I'd forgotten to include the first-of-its-kind Hornet light fleet carrier. Only carries a dozen fighters. About the flame color. Computers don't do violet well and I may have inched into lavender here. I was watching the last shuttle launch and some commentator mentioned that the orbiter main engine flames are nearly invisible, since hydrogen and oxygen flames are ultraviolet. So, all my high-powered plasma rockets (which would be at a much higher temperature) should burn even further into the UV. So here's the effect on a darkened ship. I finally have finished my "Fleet Sheet" for the start of the Mars-Belter War and I'll try to upload that tonight - right after the Renderosity midnight hour. Thanks for all your views, comments and favorites. --- For the last pre-commissioning training ops, the skipper took us out to the Deimos range. Mars eclipsed the sun and it was dark as the Kuiper out there. Damn Blowflies -- I mean "Condors" -- are ugly beasts, but their stats say they'll get the job done. Only some real ops will say. The drill went perfectly. The skipper gave the command and all dozen hanger doors snapped open in under two seconds. Then the whole VF203 Condor squadron spat out like flies waved off a pile of dung. Not that the Hornet is a pile of dung or anything. Bad analogy, I guess. Better scratch that -- -- Lt. Cmdr Alfonso Kimball, XO IMN Hornet, 6 February 2519

Very sharp image! Your artwork is refreshingly grounded in science, and always worth a close inspection. Fantastic work, I'm looking forward to the novel!

I love the level of realism you're bringing into your thinking on this series. It may be OCD (um, I'd have to plead the 5th if I was pressed on that one, too) but the results are fantastic.
