Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh my Bill... it sounds like a whole exercise to go through to catch a fish... Sure the fish monger sells great ones??? lol.... Lovely image and great and very informative narrative. It is rather fascinating! My brother and his wife wants Bruce and I to go with them to Namibia in March nxt year on a fishing trip. We are both VERY keen!!!

Have at it, Bill. I'll watch from afar. Great image and narrative, though.

Great shot Bill, could be an advertisement straight out of a Fishermans Clothing store Catalogue/Brochure. Like any interest or sport you aint doing it right unless you aquire all the right gear! I think I will spend the rest of my life adding photography eqipment and never think I have enough lol.

Most interesting! I find those bronzed calves the best bit of the pic!!!

Interesting information and photo...!!!!

A man involved in this showed me what he used for bait. He called them "sand fleas" They were about two to three times the size of grubs in a crescent shape with a soft shell and dangling legs.

Great shot, Sir. We, down south, have a much simpler way of surf fishing. Put on a bathing suit, get a can of bait, same sized rod, and walk out about waste deep and cast away. There's no thinking, "That's a lady at waters edge" You'll know. ;-) Hope everybody as a great day, Skipper

most interesting realism! I agree the pic is crisp and clear, and the tan calves are most interesting! ;) Hugs Ariana

Have to be very dedicated to do this! Very well done, Clive

Yup, done this before and, yup, dressed similarly only in something less pretty and forget the cleated shoes - I was in my flip-flops and trying not to break an ankle while I was at it. I love surf fishing but you have to have a strong back and 2 strong arms to cast into the wind and beyond the breakers. And then there is trying to pull in all that sea grass that sometimes washes through and finds your line like ants find a picnic. Great shot and I sure wish I could buy stylish clothing like this - but I think I have a rod and reel that puts him to shame. :-)In my area, we use a tobbacco pouch with squid guts in it as bait. Brings in the rock fish quickly. And I know people who surf fish by wading into the ocean to their arm pits but I have a fear of sharks and don't find that sport...I find that terrifying. LOL

Sign of the intent fisherman. Great capture

I did a lot of fishing on a pier which required similar equipment. Fishing is a blast! Haven't been fishin' in while though... Great capture!

With all that regallia it looks as though he is going rock climbing :) I would have thought that so far away from the waters edge all he would catch would be beached whales or the odd pebble or two lol.. super photo :)

Since I'm not into fishing, I'll just offer objective comments such as terrific POV, DOF, clarity, colors, composition and textures in this marveloso capture, Bill!

Great capture, and we call it surf casting in NZ. though few go to all the trouble of dressing up for it.

Personally, I love to fish. Lucky man! Great picture!

Sea fishing! Not my cup of tea, my friend. I tend to dress more like the guy on the right!! Ha! Fine picture again. Well done, Rob.

Done a bit of Beachcasting but more coarse fishing, I stopped going about 20 years ago due to health and gave all my gear to my son. He goes specimen hunting for Carp, goes over to France a couple of times a year. He needs a van to carry all his gear though. Excellent capture, wish I could still do it myself, I would join you in a flash. Bravo!!!!!
