Description

Blencathra Looking in the opposite direction from my previous submission the view oner Castlerigg Stone Circle looks towards the mighty Blencathra which stands at 2847 feet and towers over the little village of Threlkeld. Blencathra means the Devil's Peak in old Cumbrian. It is supposed to have been the home of Afallach, a Celtic God of the Underworld. It is also known as the Saddleback, due to its shape when viewed from the East. Eddie

This is an incredible shot and the stone circle is so complementary with the shape of the mountain. I can easily see why this was a special place. Fabulous work.
