What a strange kind of metal, for sure non existing in this Universe. It makes me always curious and suspicious when I see things like this. Where does so-called Sipapu know about such metals from? Should not the Earth Department of the Galaxy Police be more interested in artists like that?

PK, What a wonderful story! :-) Thanks for the chuckle. Raku is, in fact, an ancient way of firing pottery that originated in Japan. Firefly commented on the eveness of the firing because Raku is sometimes known for having large areas of dull black on it. A search on Google for "Raku pottery" will bring up pictures of many examples.
Firefly, it's my favorite kind, too. I actually have several pieces that have been fired as evenly as this, believe it or not.
Thank you both so much for taking the time to stop by and leave your nice comments.

You're very welcome :) It's cool you have some pieces and to have ones fired so evenly makes them a true treasure. I had one piece my brother had made but it got broken :( Oh well, so it goes sometimes!!

This looks just like the glaze we used to use, down to the iridescence. We would get really even firings, too. I think it is in how you apply the glaze. If it's the same thickness, it will come out nice like this. I just love watching the pots as they first come out of the kiln. I think that must be the zen of it! Why don't you photograph your pots and put them in the photos section, and I'll do the same!
