Ed Algra, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 1930, now living near Rotterdam. My education was a technical one, I came by accident to artistry, although I always had much interest in art, photography and music.ÂÂ
I’m a retired chemical engineer, worked at a research institute on mechanical properties of plastics and composite materials. I heard of fractals for the first time in the late eighties, and then read the well known books of Prof. Hans Lauwerier and other authors on this subject. At that time I also attended a Fractal symposium at the Technical University Delft, where Benoît Mandelbrot and some other prominent authors revealed the secrets of this new mathematical world. The pictures they showed made an overwhelming impression. Years after that, after my retirement and the connection to the web in 2005, I discovered what had happened in the meantime, the birth of a new kind of art, based on fractal concepts. Then it became a creative hobby for me. Both the mathematical and the artistic side of it have my interest.  Especially Ultra Fractal offers the possibility to write your own fractal math codes, and I love it to do so. I started Renderosity uploading on instigation of Arend Nijdam, aka “Fractelaar†in September 2005.

Geweldig Ed, en dan bedoel ik in eerste instantie het verhaaltje, maar...jouw schitterend plaatje doet het weer uitstekend. De gelijkenis met de beruchte boosdoeners is frappant.

Revolting mushrooms, I think I remember having some of those many years ago. Good luck staying out of jail, but what I want to know is do y'all have such a large police force that they can inspect all the gardens and woodlands to eradicate those nasty old mushrooms? I would think it'd be impossible, so you're probably pretty safe. We'll hope so, anyway, we would miss you.

excellent image with great likeness. You mention the turkey tail mushroom? Looking at your picture that must be the ones I am thinking of, growing on trees and difficult to spot because they look so much like tree bark... I feel a hint of rebelliousness towards that new law... so typical of the "Dutch". Hahahahah

Brilliant design. The colors, composition and textures are gorgeous. What a great title for this. Thanks for the explanation. I can't imagine needing to control nature like that. I hope the mushrooms win their battle. : )

That is some law! I'd say replace the dykes with walls, and everyone is safe - and the mushrooms happy. I'd say your lawmakers have been sampling too many.
