catching up again...this one struck me as another of your historical pieces, kind of a symphony of the culture of high hats & formal attire, all symbolizing a cultural milieu, mainly male, very formal and not a little hypocritical, with a sense (almost) of mob justice. The lion heads on poles and what appears to be people on poles make it all seem a big macabre ceremony...Also I love the swan: It feels like a sacrifice, since the swan tends to symbolize purity to a lot of people, and maybe these people just can't deal with it; or maybe it's just plain irony, surrounded by all those blowhard 'magicians'...well, however close or far I am, it's another of your fascinating political-cultural visions, and, as always, thoughtfully composed.
