Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Beautifully captured Marilyn!

Is that vase, as in "vace," or vase, as in "vahz?" The shadow makes the object look like it's lying on its side on the stove top. Ultra ruddy textures make up the surface of the vase. Stellar capture, Marilyn!

(there's so much exciting imagery to catch up on in your gallery, I didn't know where to begin...) this is a beautiful piece marilyin, you've given it the look of a museum capture, the stark bleached-yellow background (used in art books so as to not interfere with the object), and the full capture of the vase. In your hands it seems monumental, as if it were an artifact of some major civilization; and the shading at bottom really gives it gravity. It's a sumptuous vase given that it's a little thing, and you really caught its sensuous veneer (it drips!). I was going right for your surf shots but this caught me and boy am I glad I stopped here. It's fitting for an art book on ancient pottery, and you got perfect shadows too...lovely!
