Description

When I posted a low-light shot of my great-grandmother's ceramic pin box a few days ago, Andrea mentioned that she'd like to see it fully lit, since she's a potter. So, my potter friend, here are three views of the box from different angles (so you can see the paint) and with different intensities of light (so you can see the detail) and a shot of the inside of the lid (so you can see the way it's molded). :) Oh! I almost forgot. On the bottom of the box (which is also beautifully painted, and I don't know why I didn't think to photograph it that way) it says: Mallor Ceramics (copyright) 1906 Jamar

HAHA ! At first I thought it was mixed brown and white chokolate too and i started drooling. LOL ! Now I understand and what a neat little peace of pottery. I have always lovet pottery and once I dreamed of being a potter and started to learn. But the union wanted me to be payed and the pottery fired me. Anyway I didnt have patience of going severel years without sallery. So I started to learn in a music publishing firm instead. That was my second interess at that time. :)

Thankyou, Tara! It does indeed look extremely edible, and it is VERY much Edwardian taste! Quite extraordinary, in fact. I trained as a studio potter, not a mould designer; I may post some bits one day. Beautiful clear photos!

Have to echo fredster66's comment...not only is this an interesting post but the full size view is outstanding. I have some Early American Pattern Glass that should photograph very well. I need to develop a technique to display it like you have done here for your pottery. Problem with glass is since you can see through it...there is the background to concern yourself with... Have you ever tried glass? Bill

WOW. This is great work...on your part and on the part of the ceramicist. I love the glazing and the colors you've captured. There's a whole sense of artistry that older things have. Artistry exists now, but it's so "dumbed down" in a way, so it's great to see something an actual artisan did. Superb work, especially in capturing the detailing.
