Description

This one has been shown in the 2D Gallery, thought I'd share this a little more elaborate version with you also :) AND an apology to those who've already seen it. It is of course mostly 2D work, but some final adjustments in Photoshop (blurring the background) makes it a sort of mixed medium work as well. This is mainly to be considered a technical exercise. I wanted to prove to myself that I still could make an "old-fashioned" realistic airbrush painting, using Painter and the Wacom airbrush pen.
It's made with a photo for reference, but drawn/painted completely from scratch, using something resembling traditional airbrush techique very much - creating numerous masks etc. as shown in the picture.
The background is imaginary, and though the airbrush work was done without masking here, I wanted an extra Depth-of-Field effect, which was applied in Photoshop using the gaussian blur filter.
Toolbox: Photoshop CS, Painter X, Wacom Intuos 3 tablet (A5 wide).
Original size 1500x2000.
Most of my pictures here are in the Vue gallery (renders), but in case you're interested, a few of my real airbrush paintings (acrylics) can be viewed here:

Thanks for taking a look, hope you like it. Comments etc. welcome and appreciated.
Have a nice day
- Lars

Absolutely gorgeous! You have many talents I see. I'd love to see more of the lady's slippers. I tried photographing the pink ones before but they are hard to capture (for me) in their semi shaded areas.

Excellent! Your painter skills are as expert as your Vue skills. Impressive work.
