BIO Hi, I am Gun Legler from Sweden. I live together with my cat Simon in a little village near Gothenburg On the outside I am old, but young inside :-) For so long I can remember, I have enjoyed expressing myself through any kind of art or craft. Until I was 40 I worked as a child psychologist and pre-school teacher, but after that I said goodbye to my profession and began studying at an art school. There I stayed for four years, mainly learning Graphic art (etching, dry needle and linoleum cut). I was a lousy oil painter, that medium did not fit me at all, watercolor I liked better. For many years I made collages of different kind, watercolor and textile. I grew up with a mother that sewed and a father that built violins, so I early fell in love with textures of many kinds. I have now abandoned making textile collages, but I realize that I work much in the same way with my computer art. I take a piece here and a piece there and try to make a whole of it. And I am madly in love with textures of all kinds, I can sit for hours just playing with different colors, textures and filters, making backgrounds just for fun (and for upcoming images). I work very much by intuition when I make an image, experimenting wildly with layers, textures, color and light. But the form is equally important, thats what Graphic school taught me. I have seldom a clear inner image when I start creating, it is more a feeling I want to express. The process can be quite unconscious to me for a long time. The image gradually takes form, and become clearer to me. What I want with my images is to reach the feelings of the viewers, to make them look into their own inner being and respond in any way, regardless of which feeling is evoked.

I am Gun's daughter Lena (zitalena@gmail.com). I am so, so sorry to tell you all that mom passed Tuesday morning, Feb 8 2022, Swedish time. No panic, no pain, no regrets. So peaceful. I tried to get a message about this on my moms latest picture, but now I can't find it. But now I have her computer and can log in. Please email me if you want. Thanks to all. Mom really loved the community!! Her gallery will live on. I have changed the address to mine, because me and my brother really would LOVE to keep her gallery open. Love to all.

Such a beautiful, peaceful scene this is. I am happy Lucia doesn't have to be out in the cold, but I'm sure it would be a beautiful scene with the candlelight and snow. I can imaging a group of little Lucia's dancing in your garden. Happy Lucia Day!

A lovely tradition of giving gingerbread. This is a beautiful shot- I just love it when the snow clings to all the branches like that, turning the trees into a fairyland. CC

What a wonderful holiday photo. I'd never heard of Lucia Day before. I learn so much out here in the galleries. I'm fond of ginger bread and coffee so, I'd readily welcome that. Your scenery looks a lot like mine. It is so cold here. It's pretty for the holidays and it's always a cozy time to sit back and reflect on the year, and then by the middle of January I start yearning for spring. Happy Lucia Day! I often wonder why such wonderful traditions disappear.

My dad used to do something similar when I was young... he had a few drinks, filled a large silver serving tray full of hot buttered rums and then delivered them to each house on the block singing (oh my!) and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. He was a "favorite" during the holidays with all the neighbors... This sure is a gorgeous sight. Wonderful view.

what a beautiful image. i've only seen rain and wetness this season, so i appreciate the more extreme and interesting view of winter (though i like pretty much all of winter's weather).

Oh what a lovely view from your window! And how nice to see just a bit of blue in the sky! We have had strange weather the temps rising and plummeting, rising and plummeting, rain then snow then rain then snow.

still catching up (bear with me)...I saw this lovely shot when you posted it but couldn't comment then...now it's a day away from the Solstice, so this is the right time. It's a beautiful shot of 'dusting', snow gracing everything with a light coat, and you caught all the sinewy limbs & branches. But what makes this even more special is the tonal quality, the silver-grays, the gentle sepias & the beautiful gradations in the sky. A gentle touch I love. You were always fine with subtleties, and this is a perfect example. A beautiful picture of early winter in all its purity; even the frame is beautifully done. I hope it remains this beautiful for you, throughout. (In the city it doesn't, but moments like these make all the others worthwhile.) Beautiful & subtle, and a fav.
