I just did what I so enjoy doing in your gallery. I picked a page at random and looked to see what pulled me in. I have picked 3 images and you just downloaded another. I have only looked at it briefly, but I think maybe I must make 3 . . . 4. :) Both the image and title captured me here. Like HADCANCER, Paul Simon's lyrics instantly came to mind. Even without the title, I would have though of Simon's words. "A winter's day, in a deep and dark December. I am alone." Your image speaks to the desolation of those words. Your rock, who wants to be alive, makes me think of people who want to feel alive. Who stare out into the emptiness of their own making. I do not disparage them for I have stared out into such a place. Your image is so full of emptiness. A figure, alone, staring out into nothing, a landscape scarred and pitted like a war-zone, a blue sky veiled by dark clouds. There is beautiful light, but it seems to accentuate the empty darkness. I love the way the light reveals eyes and mouth, but the eyes don't seem to see or the mouth to speak. The hard contrast of light and darkness, emphasize the darkness. The light on the ground emphasizes the desolation. The blue sky shows that there is beauty, if he could just but see it. This is a wonderful image, so evocative. Beautiful use of light and composition.
