BUY THIS CAR!!!
Sixty-seventh in a series of classic vehicles, captured 9/21/08, at the beautiful Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, held annually at the beautiful Trump National Golf Club on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in overpopulated Southern California.
For more information on this event, see my posting for 9/28/08.
And now, back to the Cadillacs.
Okay, maybe someone has the real skinny on this. Googling around, I found the following term spelled several different ways, e.g., de Ville, De Ville, deville, deVille, DeVille, Deville....gimme a break!
Reflections galore in these photos. You can even see mine on the bumper in the second and third pictures. And this time I didn't bother to blur out the backgrounds because of the natural beauty of the area.
The bottom shot shows the elegant right front whitewall tire/tyre with its super spokes.
A zoom view will be to your distinct advantage.
Thankx for clicking on, and have a Saturday beyond your wildest imagination.

Park this baby next to one 10 years older to see what happened. Then next to one ten years younger to see what did not need to happen. Finally, it has it's own space. The four door hardtop had to wait for the Brougham. So Coupe deVille and Sedan deVille were separated for a time.

Wonderful capture Harry. You always make these old and some new automobil so interesting wiht your various angle shoots. I can imagine a comfort of the back seat but I would choose to drive this beauty.

Wow - what a beauty Harry... I am giggling as I could probably fit my whole car in this one's trunk!!! Fantastic detail in the wheel and wonderful reflections in the chrome! :)

This is it Harry...the classic...recall these words from old rock 'n roller, Chuck Berry? Did you know he's 76 and still singing this song? "As I was motivatin' over the hill I saw Maybellene in a Coupe DeVille A Cadillac arollin' on the open road Nothin' will outrun my V8 Ford." This pic goes in my favorites! Bill

Hey, that's my model year, 1953! The car is holding up a lot better than I am, though...beautiful captures, lots of shine and class there!

well you sure know how to capture cars, especially these old beauties. Having been in advertising a bit, I assume the many spellings of "deVille" are partly for trade purposes, though maybe it's just because it's a foreign word and no one's quite sure how to spell the little sucker. (As you know, it means "the city" or "village," but I assume it was called that to indicate that the car was good for town & country, and I imagine the customer didn't care how it was spelled, even though Madison Ave execs probably spent months over "should we use the CAPITAL v, or the SMALL one???" It got that bad in that field, believe me...) I can see the same principles at work in your car montages as in your flower & walls & fence montages: the same several-view offerings, etc etc. And zoomed, this is just opulent. You really know how to capture the undulating shape of car exteriors, and the sheen of the chrome, next to the more shadowed sections. The bottom shot—of the whitewall—is one of the best I've seen of a whitewall. It's like those old formal outfits from the 30s, with white high-lace shoes. A class act all around, and a beauty of a car to be sure.
