Description

Hi thanks for looking! The Artifact just appeared one day off the eastern US coastline. It's half a kilometer in diameter and nobody knows what's holding up those metal slabs. The Air Force has two F-16's from Andrews Air Force base on CAP 24x7 but the thing just sits there... waiting. Nobody knows what for... Vue7i render. The Artifact was constructed in GroBoto and exported as .obj - imported into Vue and procedural texture from the library applied. F16's by Bazze and Tramp Steamer is from DAZ. High quality (sliders to +4) global illumination spectral atmosphere with one cloud layer. Vue7 infiinite water plane and some meta clouds for the smoke from the freighter. render time @ full resolution was ~10 hours on a Quad Core 64 bit Vista system w 4gb RAM.

Very sharp looking render. I'm a little surprised by the time it took to render, though. I'm using a dual core laptop with 2G of ram rendering Vue 6 Easel images and not taking all that long. But I'm sure that V7i is probably doing a lot more in the background than mine is.

Very nice staging and storyline. Would hesitate to suggest that sharper colors in the sky and ocean could streangthen the image. With Alien unknown artifcats its so hard to call on reflections and refractions!

i like the artifact, and i think it might be interesting to see how it looks from the inside. i'm not surprised it took so long to render with all those reflective surfaces. the cloud in the background has a beautiful shape. i like how you used the ship and planes to set the scale of the artifact.
