G'day,
and thank you for the chance to introduce myself......
okay, that sounds waaaay too stuffy.... how about this then...... I was raised on Canadian Army Bases which limited the type of grand exposure that my peers would have enjoyed... (In High School, every one of my City Friends would spend Monday mornings talking about Saturday Night Live.... I had no idea what an Ackroyd or a Belushi was....). but you learn.......
I am mostly self taught as no respectable art school would have anything to do with me.
I make movies, live and animated, am one half of a Jazz Duo (called Three Men With Mono.... I play with another animator, the astounding Richard Reeves... and yeah we know, a duo is less than 3 men... but hey....Grand Funk Railroad isn't a Railroad, Iron Butterfly isn't an insect.... and Pink Floyd is well...)
I work in digital photography, Poser (which rules), Bryce, Deluxe Paint 4 (yes I still have working Amiga's), and anything that functions for me...and I'm developing a new animation technique for using with inexpensive digital cameras.
I am currently living in Medicine Hat, Alberta, with 2 robot dogs and my dreams....
and unless you've made other plans, have a great day!

"Construction started on the largest space station designed, destined to be also the largest casino in either nation. She was called the City of A'tlant'yk. Built in two stages, the upper ring and pylons were completed and operational while the lower sections were still being built. This meant that the station could make money on a daily basis, offlaying costs of completion. This in itself was a bit of a gamble..... but isn't life a gamble? At the outbreak of hostilities, the owners of The City of A'tlant'yk, fearing for the destruction of their station and loss of major investments, devised an ingenious plan. Under cover of the eternal night of space, they moved the station to an undisclosed location well beyond the borders of either faction. The owners figured out a planto recoup losses by only letting a few, very well to do , clients know of the location. And by a few, that's a few thousand. The owners intensified the interest in the casino by building up the mythology of it being the "Lost City of A'tlant'yk", and as a secret travel destination that people would bid on for the secret coordinates. Through out the conflict, the well heeled, and the well riched, would make the dangerous and long trip to the station, all being sworn to secrecy about it's location. The owners knew that if any of the clients blabbed about how to get to the station, they could simply move it again, intensifying the myth of the city being "Lost". Even after the war, the owners and decsendants of the owners, kept the location secret..... what's the point of having something of mythologic proportions, if there's no myth to go along with it?" The Lounge Wars, Chapter 2 The Major Players I always liked the old skool ringed space station design, classic. My Dad had all these old magazines from the 50's, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics...... showed us what life would be like in the future, including ringed space stations. The desigm was popular in the 60's and 70's from Fireball XL 5 to 2001 (from the sublime to the ridiculous)..... Then came the tubular designs, suitable for the proposed L5 Colonies (remember them?), and moder Sci Fi (Babylon 5).... but here in the Lounge... we like the classics....just ask the other Lounge Lizards that hang here with me.... just ask the girls, Yvette, Babette, and Toscette..... WaItress, a glass of single malt... neat if you please.... it's cold outside, and I gotta warm up..... comments welcome, please enjoy!

So good to see the 'Lounge Wars' back and running. Heading over to the lounge to warm up, hit me up with a brew. +5 from doarte's MADHOUSE HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Reminds me of the giant tire that used to be on the side of the road here in Michigan! It was a sign for Firestone, I believe. Cool space station.

The Lost City station looks like an inflated version of Kubrick's 2001 station, which makes sense as this story is all about Ve-gas...hehe ! I think it was a smart idea by the owners to move the Casino to a far off and hidden destination and makes the punters even more keen to lose...er, win some money once they finally get there ! Neat modelling and mysterious story ! ~Cheers~

Interesting, what the thing below the tire ?

I suppose it's a gamble that the casino's clients would manage to find it. 'Course as you said that jus' adds to the mystique. Well done.

Moving this station under cover, well, the far reaches of the Galaxy couldn't be such a difficult task at all, 'cause there is endless supply of 'beyond'... Almost like the delightful 'Cloud City' of Bespin, the guests are made feel welcome and lulled into a sense of well-being. (while being fleeced) The thock plickens, er...I mean the plot thickens ! BB
