Description
This is another vertical projection, based on a panorama taken near Goriano Sicoli (parco nazionale del Sirente). Title arises from the two close hills that give two gibbous deviations to circular horizon line, with a shape similar to water molecule.
I know someone don't like this "innatural" projection, but someone else showed some interest on it, so I want to publish this last one with some additional explaination.
The starting point is how to rapresent a 360° panorama on a flat image; this issue is similar to the globe map projection: the distorsion are unaivoidable. In this case, I solved the issue by adding to the original stitch (assembled using Autostitch) two "dark" regions below and above to it, in order to have 360°x180° panorama. Then, using PovRay (which is a 3D rendering software), I used this image for cylindrical texture, reprojecting it on a sphere. The result is similar to a "polar" projection (the polar projection is an azimuthal projection drawn to show Arctic and Antarctic areas).
Owners of Yahoo account can look to this impressive gallery of FULL 360°x180° panoramas:

Very impressive! WOW! :)

They did these back in the 18th century. You put a cylindrical mirror in it (As you stated..;) and the painting 'came to life'.

In some ways, this kind of picture frustrates me. I prefer regular panoramas, but would not discourage you from taking this type of picture. Experimentation is usually interesting and one often discovers some new things only by doing so.
