Description

Hello again! Even a fortress must have a door, heavy armed and with a lot of guardians, and we decided to take this way, not the modern elevator at the backside.... This fortress has four gates, four in a row, and this here is the "3rd degree". That means: Attacking enemies had to fight down two another points; an armed door and an armed movable bridge before they reach this point... And: You can see, this is not a place for a lunchtime or a break, at the right and left side are small windows to fire out - right at you (or the poor dog...LOL) This gate is called "Medusa`s Tor" (Medusa`s door) The stone in the middle shows a wife`s face, surrounded by snakes. It is a person out of the old greek myth: Its first look make your body shiver and the second look makes a stone out of you... On top are the crown and the herald of the Saxonian prince- elector and king of Poland, the owner of this building. The door and its armoured surrounding was built in 1729-1736. It was an military "upgrade" of the old door in the background. When Napoleon Bonaparte started his military revolution, he had a lot of partners in Germany, united in an alliance called "Rheinbund". Saxonia was his closest partner till the end, and Napoleon used the fortress Koenigstein for his military plans. Through this gate he entered and left the fortress, even an imperator had to pass this needle`s ear.... (to be continued..) Hope you enjoy this story,I have a lot of fun to create it and read some prospects and books. Thanks for your interest and your comments. My special thanks for those who favorited my last pic.
