Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Thats awesome! I love odd Christmas trees. My parents get a live Redwood tree every year and plant it after new years. They are always kinda frumpy and cute. I love the post work on this. And the ornaments look really good. Great Shot!!

Well, it certainly bears interesting fruit! Perfectly round apples - I've never seen any quite so shiny!

LOL@Tara...I don't have a tree at all at home, I never bothered for the last three years now, it sure is an easier time not having to vac up all the needles, and I don't really like the fake trees, maybe I should never have felled the apple tree in my garden :(...Excellent post work on this one Maz!

Has a very old style flare to it. I see you still have 'green' grass out there.

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree..... The expedient way to go, Marilyn! Good thinking and most cool of you. At least you won't be contributing to the mass of old dry fir trees that will be clogging up the environment after Christmas.

Three years ago, I spent Christmas in the high desert outside of Phoenix, Arizona. It was freezing and I either sat by a huge fire or wrapped up in blankets in my tent. But in the middle of my camp, there was a thorny, twisted tree and I had brought one box of ornaments with me. I hung those shiny balls on that tree and secured them with wires since the wind was strong and gusty. The most beautiful sight I've ever seen was Christmas morning, sitting by a raging fire in the pit as the sun broke the horizon and made those decorations light up with mother natures special light. Great shot, Marilyn. One of the best Christmas trees anyone could have.

this is so festive I almost thought it was a montage of several trees at first. Of course it isn't, it's your eye & festiveness at work. And what a hue you caught it in: Often your pieces burst with bright and dancing light; but then you go dark and capture things in shade and amber shadow (like your lemons), and you get this inward light instead. This looks like a tree getting ready to go out, it's all dressed up & ready, all dark & amber & waiting, like someone just before they walk outside. Love the reds & golds and the criss-cross of branches—really musical. Love this shot & it's great for the season. (If it were chicago, the tree would be saying, "drop the &#;@% camera and get me a coat!") Lovely work, marilyn, and great comments too!
