Description

The ice on the meteorological instruments of the weather station on top of Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze (2,962m, 9,718-ft) indicate the harsh conditions that exist up here. The view is toward the southwest across the Austrian Alps and was practically unlimited. There was a slight breeze, and at 11:00AM the temperature was -20C (-4F), cold enough for my little Canon A520 to quit on me. This picture was taken on 30 December 2005. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my uploads, Sig...

Burrrr, I would quit on you too. This looks too cold to be up there. I have been in -48F. That is when I decided to move to Hawaii. Great shot. Aloha

It looks like a telephone microwave relay tower that is the host to these instruments. I have delivered news papers in -20F conditions. I had a hand warmer of catlayst type in my pocket. It might help yor Canon.

Beautiful scenery nicely captured. What is down to the lower left on the mountain? Almost appears to be ski lifts. You could really rock and roll on skis if avalanches didn't get you first :-) Bill
