WOW....that makes me proud to be British !! I once heard the merllin engine of a Spitfire at an air show when i was a child, i nearly wet myself !!! If i heard one today i seriously think i would shed a tear and really wet myself lol. Stunning render, instant Fav 5+++++++

A few days ago as I was just getting home from work I heard a very unusual, and vaguely familiar, sound in the sky. The aircraft silhouette was clearly a P-51 that was about 3-4000 ft above ground level. I agree, that Merlin engine makes a remarkable and very unmistakable sound. One I haven't heard since the old Confederate Air Force did a show here over 30 years ago. Living a few miles South of the Air Force Academy we see a lot of different aircraft in the sky quite often. Most people get so used to it that they really don't pay much attention. But let one of the WW2 aircraft make a pass or two and a lot of people on my street come out to watch. The same can't be said for the jets.
