I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Once again your realism gets better and better with each image. I've seen all 300 of those beauts....thanks for the wonderful inspiration!

I'll take your word for it on the Cubic-spline-anti-bloom thingy. Made that whooshing sound as it passed way over my head. Nice earthy-surfaced wilderness scene. (won't repeat Schmeerlap's stone crit here).
Maori
You did wonders to this excellent terrain, Bob!! Beautiful work as always.

For those of you that wonder what WeeLaddie is talking about, Schmeerlap made a good criticism regarding the stones in the foreground - I agree with it. However, when I added some displacements to the main terrain, they came up looking like I used the fake stones shader. Less displacement what have made them look smaller.

Nice render! The terrain shapes look quite realistic as desert formations. Is it a DEM? The vegetation could use more variety, in terms of color and shapes of each plant or tree, but each render I see of yours seems to get closer and closer to being realisticaly believable.
choronr
@asetix: Thanks for visiting and your kind comments. Yes, this terrain is from a DEM file. These distant points of view are difficult to blend in a mix of many different varieties of plants due to the small sizes and lack of detail which is due to the distant view - so, I usually choose the predominant ones like sage brush or brittle bush. Here, I probably could have used a more dense population of the brittle bushes.
