Description
Shown here is a close-up the flower, or the cyathea, of a large poinsettia.
The showy colored parts of poinsettias that most people think are the flowers are actually colored bracts (modified leaves). The flowers or cyathea of the poinsettia are in the center of the colorful bracts. You don't want to select a poinsettia with cyathea that are open and shedding pollen or missing. That means the plant is past its prime.
