Description

Just a quick little illustration I did in Photoshop for a co-worker of mine who loves the song of the same title. The building is taken from a photo I took of the old Chickasaw Capitol Building her in Tishomingo, OK.

My sister gave me a card of a man riding a hippopotamus when I returned to Michigan in 1983. I don't know the song. I thought more of the Hippodrome I had seen in musical movies in New York. The blimp also rises.

I'll have to find that song now! I love this image, it's deliciously loopy. Funny thing...the hippopotamus is one of the most violent, mean tempered critters on earth, and yet there's something cute and appealing about them too. I love that quirky contrast, and pink hippos in tutus is even more quirky. Fantastic, well-conceived work!
