Description
Here are the mince tarts..with an interesting history. In the 16thc they were made from shredded meat with spices. suet and dried fruit put into pies, in an oval shape to remind us of the manger in which Jesus was laid. The 3 spices were to represent the three kings. In the 17thc Oliver Cromwell passed an Act imprisoning anyone found eating such a pie!
So many myths and ledgends .... 'wish when eating the first mince pie of Christmas' and 12 pies ahould be eaten between Christmas day and Twelfth Night to ensure a lucky year.
No love that in a family dwells,
