Just as long as you do not have 'snow tax' as well as 'water tax' to pay to your local authority / council / county or whatever. Don't suggest it too them, my friend. They are all for any scheme to raise money... ;o) The worst snow which I remember, about 30 miles south of Glasgow, Scotland, and about 20 years ago, was up over the wheel arches of our police short-wheel-base Land Rover. We had been sent out to find a missing boy, who had failed to return from secondary school. It seems that he had been 'dogging school' ( truanting ) that morning, returned to school and had tried to make his own way home. Making our way, without four wheel drive, off the main road, which the snow ploughs were trying to clear, we got maybe 3-400 yards up a narrow, bank-and-hedge lined country lane, before drifted snow blocked out way completely. We had great diffiuclty just extricating ourselves.. As it happened the lad had made it to a farm some way over the hill, quite safely some hours before and had phoned his girlfriend, not his mother, who had alerted us. When we found where he was ( after the office 'phoned round the few farms in the area ), nice and safe, our sergeant informed his mum. She blew her top, and demanded that he be 'rescued'... It seems that his 'out-of-favour-with-mum' girlfriend lived at that very farmhouse, and the boy's mother certainly did not approve of him staying overnight at this location.. ;O) Warm regards, from a gale-blown Glasgow, Scotland, John.

Awww. I see a lot of people staying home with hot chocolate and jigsaw puzzles, or in today's terms, espresso and Wii. No hurry. Everybody's in this together. The rest will get you and your neighbors in the mood and ready for the shoveling and clearing of the cars.

Yikes! I've seen about enough snow for this winter already. Hard to believe it's only December! I don't think we've had weather like this in December down here since 1996.
