Description
My girlfriends little girl has been suffering constant nightmares since her grandmother passed away last year. When I heard of this I immediately thought of making her an angel. What I do is to take the doll and strip her of whatever she is wearing and design and make the gown by hand. The wings are handmade, the hair is restyled and a halo of feathers are added. I'm very particular about the expression of the doll as so many have a vacant stare. This particular doll was rescued from a box of toys my daughter no longer wanted. I regret not taking a before picture to appreciate the work. Evidently my daughter tried to restyle its hair at one time. I added liner on the underside of the upper eyelid to give the eyes a softer expression. The dolls hair took me three hours to comb and recurl. I'm still debating on whether or not to put a banner "Someone To Watch Over Me" on her.
History of the Angels:
Seven years ago Diane my bestfriend of 40yrs was diagnosed with stomach cancer, a few weeks later my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. Not more than a week later,Carol a close girlfriend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Diane lived in FL and on my last visit with her while she slept I made her a doll much like this one with a banner that said "Someone to watch over me". When I came home I made one for my Dad and Carol. My Dad and Diane passed away two weeks apart. Carol I am gloriously happy to say is a breast cancer survior.
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.
