Description

the T-38 was on the tarmac at a Ft Worth airport and the pilots were in a airborne Super Cobra. the sky and farm field was separately taken in Oklahoma.I bet the pilots does not know they are qualified to fly a T-38, then again maybe they are T-38C Talon Northrop a two-seater, high-altitude supersonic trainer The Air Force has about 500 of the aircraft in its inventory. First deployed in 1959, the jet has been linked to 138 fatalities and some 189 crashes, according to the Air Force Safety Center. Of 16 fatalities related to crashes at Sheppard Air Force Base since 1967, all but six involved T-38s. Pilots from 13 NATO countries train through Sheppard's Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. The T-38's crew normally consists of a student pilot and instructor seated in tandem. Student pilots learn aerobatics, formation flying, night and instrument flying, cross-country awareness, general maintenance awareness and supersonic techniques. In response to the 1973 OPEC oil embargo, the Thunderbirds aerobatic display team of the U.S. Air Force adopted the T-38 Talon, which used far less fuel than the F-4 Phantom, in 1974. (The Blue Angels downsized to the A-4 Skyhawk at roughly the same time). After the infamous "Diamond Crash" incident that killed four of the team's six demonstration pilots, the Talon was replaced in this role by the front-line F-16A Fighting Falcon in 1983. Two fatal crashes, one on 23 April 2008 at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi and the second on 1 May 2008 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, resulted in four fatalities, causing the Air Force to temporarily ground the aircraft. thanks for viewing and any comments

Great composite! I like the elements you've chosen~ =) As for flying low.... we get it all the time here (this area is the highest point between Nashville and Memphis) as we are on the military's North/South flypath, don't know if they are practicing or what but much of the time both helicopters and fighter jets fly just above the tree tops.... perhaps practicing eluding radar... Actually saw the pilot in a stealthbomber once as he cruised over our house, I waved and he waved back.
