Description
Slopping the paint around this week! I have been very distracted with mundane stuff the last few weeks and hope to be back posting very soon.
I thought some of you would be interested in the way I start off a painting?
I always scumble a raw sienna background to keep the warm glow going, the burnt sienna is for areas that will be in deep shadow. The main modelling of the figure is done in burnt umber and white.
After this first setting out of the image all the colour work will be applied in many transparent layers, plus a few tricks.
Hope this is informative?
Regards to all. xxx

Brendan, been a while since I've seen anything new from you, even this one is 11 days old as of right now! I always forget to check the artists I mean to remember, well done

Hey, Brendan! Where have you been? For that matter, where have I been? Mundane, indeed, been there for the past two months! or is it three? Fabulous painting, and it's always interesting to learn an artist's technique. I love the expression in this one. Stop by some time, I'll leave the light on for ya...

A wonderful start Brendan, so much so that one could almost say "finished, I'll buy it!" I realize of course that there's more to be done, but I'm in awe of the way you've captured the subject's hands - perhaps the most difficult of body parts to put to canvas in believable fashion. Excellent my friend. Hope to see it finished.

I like the painting, and I enjoyed the description of your working process. I guess the picture could explain your absence here on Rosity during the last time...? Nice to see your other stuff as well!
