Description

Christmas is the moment for the whole Christian community to celebrate the birth of Jesus Who gave His life and ressuscitated for the salvation of Mankind. This nativity sold on the Aix Christmas market is one of the most impressive I have ever seen by its realism and his mood. It is made of "santons", which are little painted statues produced by very skilled artists since two centuries. The figures here are ca. one ft tall (30cm). Click on the picture to enjoy it better. Little santons (Christmas statues)

Techdata: Nikon D70 with Micro-Nikkor 2.8/60, 1/20s at f/7.1, hand-held, ISO 1250 (of course you cannot use flash). Outline enhancement and Noise reduction in Lab mode on the Grey channel in Photoshop CS3 Extended.

If that scene was true as tradition has it, that Baby would be blue with cold, being unwrapped like that. Bethlehem, in the heights of the Judean Mountains, in the midst of winter, is not someplace to walking around unclothed. Religion and History aside, that is very good photography! DO keep up the good work. DPH
