My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

What a beautiful picture and what a beautiful story. Before I read your story I was thinking of my mother. I love dahlias but don't have good soil for growing them so my mother grew them for me and provided me with many beautiful bouquets. Whenever I see dahlias I think of her and think of all my good memories. She grew dahlias for me and roses for herself.

A delightful display of decorative Dahlias' Well done and a beautiful story to go with the picture

I do like this a lot. Your story provides a great backdrop for the photo. This reminds me of three older men here who loved to garden. One loved flowers. The other two vegetables. Today their beloved gardens plots are gone but I can still drive by and remember them fondly. Dahlias/roses/tulips, tomatoes, potatoes and turnips were their specialties. What a combination :-) Bill

Wonderful touchy story and I recon this way daughters never let go of Daddy, hang onto what he left behind! Wonderful cheerful capture of many dahlias.

oooh, god this is beautiful. You caught such a fine separation, they're each little blooms in that sea of greens & ambers. So often we see flowers close to each other, but this is like a ballanchine ballet. I remember from your earlier posts how you presented flowers in so many different ways...A beautiful image right before Christmas, and the upper band of dark green (background) is a beautiful accent to the whole. Much peace & joy to you this season, and wishes for a great new year. (ps, beautiful story behind this. many thanks.)

What a wonderful story! I've always loved these flowers, not least because they last so long in water! I didn't lift mine this year, we'll see what comes up! A lovely reminder of what seems such a short time ago.

They are one of my favorite flowers and these along with the story are beautiful. Have a Merry Christmas Tara.

Rich, vivid colors and textures of the pretty dahlias are beautifully contrasted against the lush green of the flora below. I didn't know dahlias grew on individual stems right out of the ground. Looks like each bloom was planted separately. Reminds me of toy plastic pinwheels.

Great capture of this gorgeous assortment of beauties!

Most beautiful Dahlia garden. I love Dahlias, too. I used to have some, but it seems my garden is so stuffed with other flowers there isn't much room for them right now. But I must have some more, maybe next planting season. The colors are so amazing in these flowers. It's a beautiful story, and a daughter keeping a legacy of her father alive in this way is tremendous.
