Description

It's 2053 and World War III is in full swing. As heavy bombers make another pass on the city center, the United Colonial Marine strike teams prepare to step out of the shadows and move on the city from all sides ...with any luck this will crush the insurgency for good. I was trying to make this look like a really gloomy morning in a very war torn locale, so my apologies to the dark monitor people ;) This one is made with some of my ruins, Stonemason's War Years, DzFire's Major Invasion and Thor Danielsen's sci-fi tank freebie. Thanks for looking!

Thanks to everyone for taking and look and for all the great comments! @Chipp: The smoke is indeed all done in post as I am yet to fully get a handle on metaclouds and keep returning to Photoshop to get it 'right' ;)

JCD, Great stuff and very well balanced. Wonderful setup with the squad and tank. The darkness is almost a necessity, its a hard question of how to illustrate it. Similar to the bombers - how do you show in art the affect of extreme high altitude bombers? Carpet bombing though - scary stuff.

Most excellent scene, very realistic. It is good too, to remind us of our work ahead to make sure this remains a fiction. Bravo!

Cette image est vraiment épatante; on pourrais croire à un PrintScreen d'un jeu vidéo du style "Battelfield 2053" :o) Mise en scène excellente, lumières et FX très détaillés.... bref mon nouveau fond d'écran :D

Yep, I'm with everyone on the composition and FX, all working very well. The Darkness issue is always your call as there might be something worth making people look harder for the details, which are all there to see on my monitor. But I wouldn't complain if there were a bit more lumens in the foreground. The aircraft, technically might be a bit too low and the scale of the bombs too big, but then I immediately see the worth of stretching reality to tell the whole story, ie; if the bombs were any smaller you might not read them right away and the if the planes were higher they would be off-screen. All-in-all, very successful. Love the peace graffiti irony.
