Description

In between humor and beauty, it is wise to reflect on the concept of impermanence, which the Buddhists call "anicca", and to remember how thin is the thread which suspends us in this life. Shot in Sichuan, just after the earthquake earlier this year.

I have similar shots from a 1993 California quake. And you are right it is a good wake up call or "shake up" call how ever you want to say it..

This looks bad! But what gets me is that every flat got the TV on the same place and they all look unbroken. What a strange time we live in! great shot!

How sad and yet so interesting. Sad that people lost so much and interesting because of all of the TV sets that made it through the episode. Great shot!

Great shot illustrating impermanence. We should be thankful for each day that destruction does not occur.

Ghastly to have this happen in ones life. Would lose so many personal things that couldn't be replaced.

Incredible image! This must have been just the tip of the iceberg of the many heartbreaking things you saw on that trip!

Man! And I thought hurricanes were bad. Seems to be only a "thin thread" holds up this building, as well...
