Description

[Please click on image for full size] Hey all, I had a lousy day, the day before Christmas . All is fine now, but I began making this image anyways, hence the image title. Featuring Shukky's awesome new model Cy-Co. I love Replica Droids, Cyborgs and Androids, and she wears Aiko3 clothing like her sibling B-Co! I'm really loving this new model! She also bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain favourite character of mine, and this title I picked for the image also something along the philosophical lines that the character would say. Theres a few things I have to fix in this image, her left thumb doesn't looks bent wrong. I can't seem to fit any more city blocks in there without running into Memory Allocation issues. Nor can I use any better anti-aliasing at this resolution. The platform shader I used I thought was Granite or Salt & Pepper, but it looks anything except that. I'll probably change it for cement tiles or something. I might change her stance, I dunno, maybe her clothing also. Something just seems lacking. Maybe the deck's too neat and uncluttered ... Those curious, yes, its a similar setting to one of my other images titled: "Sisters". I used the same scene, deleted the Mystic Titan and the girls, tried a render but the exposed cityblocks were too much for the system resources. I ended up having to tone those numbers down quite a bit. Then I also removed StoneMason's "The Core" platform, and made my own. I figured it was less system intensive, and it shows more of the cityscape. Also, theres the mountain range that I had intended to use for the Sisters picture, but again, Memory Allocation Errors prevented me from doing so. Thats one of the reasons I re-used the scene for a new image. I'll rework this image a little bit, and re-upload it. Thankyou for viewing. Comments, constructive criticism and opinions are always and especially welcome.

This must be the anime image that you wrote about. Very nice! I love to see a huge cityscape in the background like that. Hmm... I must check out Cy-co and B-co. I am not familiar with them.

Thanks all! digitani, Yep, it can make things easier, using a single light source for the whole scene - 1 sunlight + realistic sky, you don't have to worry about trying to match the lighting between a background photo and the 3d scene your putting together. Thats one of the main reasons why I gave up on D|S, and stepped up to Carrara.

You could easily do some tweaking and turn this into something you'd WOW at. 40% of the image is that plain skydeck, nothing special there. Not sure what the character is doing or looking at. I would try ditching the skydeck, move the camera right up to where the skydeck edge was. Have the charater in the corner with her back to the camera, perhaps she's looking into the city buildings. Maybe have her so close to the camera that you only see her from the torso up, maybe she's looking back into the camera. You could crop it to become a panoramic scene. Some fog or mist in between the building, or maybe a sunset/sunrise shinning through a thick atmosphere. Not having used carrara, I don't know what it's possible to do with it. Could you render the buildings in sections, and composite together in some other app? Not sure what the gimp is capable of, but it's free.

Alright folks, I took a few notes Biffowitz helpfully critiqued and suggested. I've been slaving away and re-working the scene. Theres a full cityscape, different camera angle, pose, and a few other enhancements. PhilW - if you think this city looks terrific, wait 'til you see the new and improved one! I also have a bit of postwork effects to do on it, so I'll upload it anew once its done, and post cross-reference links between the 2.
