Description

This is absolutely my favorite maple tree. The bark is interesting, the shape of the tree is beautiful, and the leaves turn colors in the most glorious display of variety and charm! I didn't postwork the sky ... that's just its natural color. All that about "the bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle" is only true if you're cruising at 30,000 feet! Statistically, we have about 90 cloud-free days per year. (Come visit between July 15th and September 30th for your best chance at seeing those blue skies!) That was probably way more information than you ever wanted! :)

Nicely turned leaves in a first rate presentation. I'm surprised they are still on the tree. That sky would have taken awhile to rework. Good you left well enough alone :) Bill

Maple trees are my favorite fall trees and this one is spectacular. The color is a real treat to the eyes. Yes, I think I saw blue sky once in Seattle. That is one of my two favorite cities to visit. San Francisco is my other favorite but I get to Seattle a lot more often.

Gorgeous! You caught it just when some leaves had yet to turn! We've turned the bend into spring now, and before we know it the trees will be in bud!

Well now i know Seattle has the most gorgeous autumn colors too. What a pleasant display this makes for and a perfect background, this is proof skies do not have to be dark blue.

Wonderful composition and colors in this great shot! The water drops are a bonus. And yes, that sky is what I have in most of my shots too, it's not overexposed, it's just the way it is!

Stunning and very beautiful shot. I cannot help reacting, instinctively to a shot like this. Acer Palmatum makes the most beautiful bonsai trees in the world, imo. This is a great website to see, how beautiful the Japanese maple can be, when trained by masters. www.artofbonsai.org/galleries/maples.php +5

...as in syrup. That'll be sugar-free if you please. Only 2-1/2 months during the year of blue sky up your way? Superlative composition of clarity, textures and reddish hues and tints in this capture of the leaves, contrasted against a surprisingly white sky.
