I like the idea, but the shadows on the Sphinx itself don't quite match the direction of light coming from the sun (they appear to be cast by a sun much higher in the sky. Also, I would prefer to see near side of the Sphinx much darker, more backlit, to match the lighting on the pyramids - though it would be difficult to get exactly right. I do love that sultry sky!
