Description

I have a whole family of Hadedas (Ibis family) nesting in a huge tree in my neighbours yard. Most of the tree however is hanging over on my side. About a week ago three babies fell (or were kicked out) of the nest. One died from the fall. I didn't see it and my gardener removed it. These two were then left. The one in front had a slight limp. I think he might have sprained a muscle with the fall. I called a nearby shelter for injured wild animals and they encouraged me to keep an eye out and see if the mother still feeds them before bringing them in. Sadly, the one at the back died two days ago. We suspect that the mother knew he was weak and only fed the front one. I am happy to report that his leg healed completely and his mother feeds him regularly. He is strong and now started hissing at us when we get too close. He has taken up the one small pond in the front yard as his haven!!!! Hold thumbs with us that the little guy makes it! Thank you for popping in and for your valued comments and favs on my previous upload. Have a great weekend! Hugs, Carin xx

Excellent capture Carin, I like your framework here, which draws the eye to the birds, well done.

Wow, excellent shot of these little guys! I've never heard of them before (not that I've heard of so much anyway!) but they're beautiful....

obviously you are a caring person. seems like nature makes calls on which one is the stronger.does not seem fair, but at least it's offspring maybe strong

What a wonderful picture! I love hadidas - but I hate their call - specially when my African Grey eco's them!!
