I had a lovely day today...
I got to sit for an hour or so on the top of a 5000 yr old standing stone (it's buried in peat so only the top is visable and just the right hight for a seat)..and watch and photograph a slow series of sunset shots. ;-) The standing stones are aligned with the midwinter (solstice) sunset. We were 11/12 days late today but it was still magical.
For the midwinter sunset the sun sets behind the smaller peak to the left of the photo and re-appears/regleams briefly the other side before setting again. The people who erected the standing stones here about 5000yrs ago were watching and timing the sunset and possibly welcoming in the New Solar Cycle/Turn of the year.
