Interesting piece. Is there any history behind this?

Omg, that's a rare bird! TheBryster, that was a kind of mini chpter used by the german navy in WWII http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flettner_Fl_282

I always thought the way the roters were on these they should cut themselves off.But knowing Germans fascination with synchronization and gearing it is to be expected.

Xcellent presentation!

Cool early helicopter render. It was supposed to be used for scouting from subs, but I don't think it was ever operational.

Very cool - Great link Jlvfr on the bird. I had no idea that any kind of helicoptor was used operationaly in WWII no less saw combat.

I seem to remember they had a pre-war version with interlocking rotors (2 rotors) done side by side</>. The weird thing about it was that they were demonstrating it indoors. Remember it was flown by a woman at that demo. Possibly a future project for ya...

this one has interlocking blades pakie!, strange bird indeed. I was thingking maybe the automobile ind. could make a 2009 version of these to get back on theire feet again, the auto is so 20th centuries. Great work as usual.

Great profile..actually the Flettner was used in combat as an artillery spotter (among other things) towards the end of the war around Berlin....what about a DobelhoffJet powered chopper next (WWII German)?

Cool! these were tied to the back of sub's as they moved along and turning rotors and the small motor kept it from wondering off! If it had to pulled down quickly it was winched in. Not sure if it worked well against aircraft spotting. I'm sure the time would have not of been long enough to winch, pack and dive before attack! Great 3-way. Rarely seen. Rob.

Ideal for commuting (in summer). It looks quite modern.
