Description


Esmarelda is a cold and forbidding world. But beneath her hydro-carbon oceans, lie vast accumulations of frozen wealth; methane hydrate, three times the size of Antarctica. The immense volume of gas rich deposits make it a valuable energy resource, and the scientists of Traxon estimate that the ocean strata contains more than one million-trillion cubic feet of methane gas. An amount representing more than 70,000 times the fuel consumption of the entire earth. But extraction of this resource is extremely dangerous, and there are many hazards. The temperature shift on Esmarelda varies between -350 F in the winter months to a balmy -124 F in summer. Ocean depths are greater than 1300 fathoms.Gigantic landslides occur frequently, and the sea floor is criss-crossed by deep canyons, and submerged volcanoes. To extract the “Green Gold” the Traxonites have built gigantic robotic factories scattered across the Fields of Centropius…
