Description
"Come on, do it... please..." - "What??" said the young boy who just passed by. "Forget it, I talked to this bird." I said. "You talked... to the BIRD???" - "Yeah... animal photographers sometimes do strange things." I said with a grin. "Ok then" the boy (and his mother) laughed.
When I arrived at the Berggarten (a botanical park in Hannover-Herrenhausen), this dunnock sat on the stone before searching for food again. "Ok" I thought, "this will be a perfect pic!", sat down on the cool ground and waited. The dunnock vanished in a big bush but returned some minutes later. "Yes, do it again..." I murmured - when a passenger with his dog approached (normally dogs aren't allowed in this park!?). Gone was the dunnock. The man said "What a wonderful day, isn't it?" - I was able to answer "Y-yes, wonderful..." 15 minutes... The dunnock appears again, approaching the stone - and 20 kids from a school's class come around the corner. Bye bye dunnock, see you later... One of the kids looking at me, asking "Isn't it a bit cold there, on the ground...?" I open my mouth to say something intelligent but instead of that I close my mouth again. "Let's look for the squirrels!" the teacher shouts and I don't disagree... 25 minutes... The dunnock enters the stone, unbelieveable. Camera up, focussing - the dunnock is gone. A gardener looking at me, lifting his eyebrows and excusing "Oh SHIT... I'm very sorry, I didn't recognize..." - "Hey, no problem!" I manage to answer. 40 minutes... "Come on little guy/gal, you did it when I came here, you can do it again... please...? One more time...? Just for me...?" The dunnock appears, two older men come around the corner - "STOP!!!" (the men freeze, so does the dunnock) "Can you wait there please, just a minute??" The dunnock jumps onto the stone - CLICK. "That's it - thank you!"
Some pics not only keep memories but a whole story "behind the scenes". There's another pic with a similar time I've waited for the perfect moment (a heron in flight), but this one topping all. ;)
Hope you have a great start into the new week - thanks for looking!
Regards, Karsten
