Description
That was then
an old girl friend died
yesterday, far away
as I held her closer
to my being
when I found out
recalling those Times
~
I had initiated
The introductory call, back then
When we were young
As we became lovers
Her brother and I
Were acquainted from school
Her father Did Not like me
She was two-years younger
I was a musician
I had a motorcycle
She liked to ride
We would sneak away
Ride out to the country roads
Go skinny-dipping in the creek
Had the whole world all to ourselves
Out There
(for a little while)
Along the roadways
On the way back into town
Alone-Together out in the country
Make out on roadside-park bench
Removing the wrinkles
No one around but livestock
Watching
Quickly,
My Uncle Sam sent a letter
I left
Then, she was gone
Out of my young life
Forever - I thought
She never left

This is beautifully written. I can feel the connection, the lovely memories. Some people stay with us forever.

Some people never do leave; we hold them in our hearts and our minds and then they come back in the most unexpected way.
