Description

There are many stories of the birth of a God during this time of year. Ancient people feared this time of darkness and cold...but the Winter Solstice (typically between December 20-23rd) brought with it a time of hope, as the darkness began to wane and the light (the sun) started it's cycle of return. Often these stories depicted the birth of a physical child (a God of some sort) who represented the sun's return. Thus my image depicts a Goddess ushering in the return of light with the new God-Child. Created for the Daz December wallpaper contest. Zoom in for full size.
